Richard Alan Waldo, 57

| October 14, 2015 9:00 PM

Richard was called to heaven on Oct. 7, 2015, to be reunited with his parents Vernon and Lucille Waldo. The peaceful passing was eased by the presence of his best friend, Leana and his two loving daughters, Rachel and Cassandra, along with Cassandra’s fiancé Travis Edgerton. It was a short battle with melanoma cancer, but it is a comfort to have him at peace with the friends and family he’s been missing.

Richard was born on Nov. 10, 1957, joining his brother, Michael, where the two were raised in a loving family near Kellogg, Idaho. The family later moved to Kingston where he met his childhood friend, Jerry. The duo would find mischief everywhere they went whether it was on the school bus or out in a field catching snakes. Rich’s tales of his childhood were unsurpassable; the tales were always made better by the intricate details and energy Rich put into each telling. One story might include the time he met his wife, Leana, while cruising Sherman Avenue in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, a rite of passage for any young man. Soon after they married, the two welcomed their first daughter, Cassandra Lucille, on Oct. 9, 1982, and later, Rachel Anne, on Jan. 8, 1989.

Richard spent the short amount of time he had on Earth, with his beautiful daughters. Through him they learned an appreciation for nature, fishing and the fine art of horse racing. Above all things, Rich or “Big Dick” as he was better known to the dismay of his daughter, always brought laughter and good times with him wherever he went.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Cassandra Lucille of Spokane, Wash., and Rachel Anne of Coeur d’Alene; ex-wife and best friend Leana of Coeur d’Alene; brother Michael and his wife Theresa Waldo of Hayden, Idaho; and his grandbaby (dog) Rosie.

No service has been scheduled at this time, but a celebration of life will occur at a later date.

One kind thought from Richard that was shared on March 31, 2012, “Treat people with respect, you will be treated the same. Enjoy life and your surroundings. Life is short and my hair is shorter. Lol. Have a great day… everyday.”

English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in care of the arrangements.
