POLITICS: Snuff electoral college

| October 14, 2015 9:00 PM

We’re constantly encouraged to vote and reminded that each individual vote counts. However, is our vote treated equally? I’ll give you some facts and let you decide. Fact: The U.S. Census counts every man, woman and child regardless of citizenship. The count includes even long-term non-residency.

According to the Census, non-citizens, illegal emigrants and visiting foreigners basically everyone is considered equal to citizens. This all-inclusive count is used to allocate the maximum number of representatives in the House, number of delegates in the Electoral College for each state and distribution of more than $400 billion to the states.

Since the president is not elected by popular vote and the electoral delegates are not apportioned by percentage of votes but rather winner take all, those voting against the winning party have their votes discarded. Under this system, established by law not our Constitution discriminates against a significant portion of voters in every state and provides unfair advantage to those states encouraging illegal immigration. Now you have the facts and can see why there is an incentive for sanctuary cities and states.

I would encourage everyone to contact his/her representatives and pressure them to eliminate the electoral college and elect the president and vice president by popular vote. At the same time demand Congress defund sanctuary cities.
