COEUR d’ALENE — Alissa Jolliff scored on an assist from goalie Cassy Van Der May as North Idaho College beat Wenatchee Valley 3-1 in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Eisenwinter Field on Tuesday.

“We had a tough time getting going after the emotional game against Spokane on Saturday,” NIC coach Dan Hogan said. “Alissa broke the ice when Cassy punted the ball from her own penalty area to the other side of the center circle. The ball got past most Wenatchee Valley defenders and Jolliff ran onto the ball, taking a touch into the penalty area and keeping the last defender on her right side and passed the pass past the keeper.”

Jessica Scott scored in the 80th minute for NIC (6-4-2, 4-2-1 NWAC, 13 points), which travels to Yakima Valley on Saturday at noon.

Wenatchee Valley is 1-8-2, 0-7-2, 2 points.

COEUR d’ALENE — A through ball to Hamidou Kante that found Alec Maldonado near the goal was among three decent scoring chances for the North Idaho College soccer team, but it played to a scoreless 0-0 tie against Wenatchee Valley College.

“We couldn’t put it in the right spot,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “Our defending has been really struggling, so we got more organized. When you neglect the other things, you don’t think the other things will go perfectly. We were able to create some opportunities. Morgan Olson in center back really came up strong for us today. We took a step in the right direction.”

NIC (5-6-3, 3-4-3 NWAC, 12 points)hosts Treasure Valley Community College at noon on Saturday.

Wenatchee Valley is 4-5-3, 2-5-3, 9 points.
