HYBRIDS: Now paying the price

I too, was surprised when I renewed my auto registration in late July. It had doubled, and when I asked “why” I was told due to being a hybrid and takes less gas, consequently they need more dollars for road repairs, etc. It was also stated that it applied to all hybrids as of July 1, 2015. The extra fees were for HB312 and hybrid fees.

I assume our Legislature passed this law without any notification or input from the people of Idaho, as I had never heard nor read about it.

My question is why do they think people buy hybrids? I personally did to save energy that we all talk about. Wow, what a surprise! Thanks, legislators, so much for economizing and saving the planet!
