Mary L. Polakiewicz, 78

Mary L. Polakiewicz, 78, Feb. 6, 1937, to Oct. 7, 2015. She was born in San Onofre, Calif., to parents Nellie and Stephen Cruz. She was married to Paul for 50 years. They married in Vista, Calif., and moved to Rathdrum in 1972. Mary served as a CNA and her biggest job was raising six children. Mary’s last job before she retired was with DeVries Moving.

Mary shared her love of fishing, hunting and traveling the U.S. with the love of her life, Paul. Paul preceded Mary in death on July 6, 2015. She is survived her sons and daughter, Bobby and Mary Marquez of Athol, Richard and Karen Marquez of Aurora, Colo., David Marquez of Indiana, Rudy Marquez of Spanaway, Wash., Gene Marquez of Spirit Lake and Melinda Marquez-Cruz of Walla-Walla, Wash. Mary is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She had a very large family in the name of Cruz located in Southern California.

There is no funeral services planned, only a memorial gathering from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at the Spirit Lake Community Center at the request of Mary. For information inquiring about the gathering look at Mary’s Facebook, or contact (208) 512-0399.
