THRIFT: What's going on in PF?
I went by the senior thrift store at 1215 E. Third St. in Post Falls around 9 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1. It was open. On my way home from the grocery store a couple hours later, around 11 a.m., I noticed the thrift store was closed. I was wondering, “What now is going on at our senior center here in Post Falls?” When I went by there on Friday, the thrift was open, but no cars were in the parking lot.
First the seniors lose their bingo; now something is happening at the thrift store (I have since found out that one of their employees was let go, and the other two quit). They were some hardworking, friendly women. I worked at the senior thrift store back in 1999-2000 as a volunteer. Never has that store looked as good as it has in these past two years.
The poor seniors seem to be losing all their programs that they enjoy and that help support them. Whatever is going on, I hope it all works out, for the sake of the seniors. It just seems wrong that the store had turned around; the girls working there worked so hard. What a shame. I’ll miss going to the senior thrift and seeing all the nice, clean items and good deals and friendly staff. I, for one, won’t go back.
