Maureen A. Priest, 92
Maureen Amanda Priest, known by friends and family as Mo, was born March 8, 1923, in Levan, Utah. A beautiful young woman, at the age of 17 she caught the eye of the handsome John Priest. The two wrote each other for several years during John’s service in WWII, and after he returned home, they married on February 21, 1946, in Glendale, California. Mo and John raised three daughters, Pam (married to the late Steve Butler), Kathy (married to Bernie Hornung), and Heidi. After living in South Carolina and California, the couple moved to North Idaho in 1994.
Mo loved crafting, bowling, and playing dice, and also maintained a beautiful home and garden. Most of all, Mo loved her family. Her pride and joy were her four grandchildren, Trevor (Debbie), Katie (Chase), Megan, and Emily, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Zach, Dylann, and Dominic, who called her “GG Mo.” As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Mo was devoted, generous, compassionate, and taught great family values that will be carried on for generations.
Not only did Mo create beautiful arts and crafts, but also delicious baked goods. Well into her eighties, she could often be seen helping her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Bernie, at their pie shop in Hayden Lake, The Yellow House. Her selflessness and desire to be there for loved ones was witnessed every day.
Mo passed away peacefully on October 10, 2015, at home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, her husband by her side. She will be loved, missed, and remembered forever.
