NIC roundup: Logan, NIC men, women second

HUNTLEY, Mont. — Luke Logan of North Idaho College finished second at the Montana State-Billings Yellowjacket Fall Invitational, which concluded Friday at Pryor Creek Golf Courses.

Logan shot 72-70—142, 2 under par, one shot behind winner Sean Benson of Montana Tech (68-73—141).

Michael Porter of MSU-Billings, who previously played at Coeur d’Alene High and NIC, tied for fifth at 71-74—145. Jackson Shaver of NIC, playing unattached, finished fourth at 74-70—144.

MSU-Billings won the men’s team title with a 578, 10 strokes better than NIC.

NIC’s women also finished second with a 720, 101 strokes behind MSU-Billings, which boasted the top six individual finishers. Nicole Miller of NIC tied for seventh with a 78-93—171. Kortney McNeil of MSU-Billings shot 73-74—147, 1 over par, and won by seven shots.

Cardinals sweep at Southern Nevada

HENDERSON, Nev. — Outside hitter Brenna Meehan had 11 kills and 14 digs to lead the Cardinals to a 25-21, 25-14, 25-18 win over the Coyotes in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match.

Penny Gwynn had 10 kills, Brittany Gay 35 assists and 10 digs for NIC (13-11, 4-1 SWAC), which hosts Salt Lake next Friday at 7 p.m. at Christianson Gym.

Bailey Bergquist had 10 kills for Southern Nevada (2-18, 0-6), which is in its first year of play in the conference.
