ST. MARIES — Freshman Matt Masterson scored twice, assisted once each by classmates Trevor DeVries and Colton Wight, leading the St. Maries Lumberjacks past Priest River in Intermoutain League play at St. Maries High.

The freshmen did alright tonight,” St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. “They are hanging in there and learning a lot this year.”

The Lumberjacks (2-9-2, 2-3-2 IML) begin play in the IML-CIL District Tournament on Saturday.

First half — 1, SM, Matt Masterson (Trevor DeVries) 8:00. 2, PR, Alex Amour (unassisted) 32:00. Second half — 3, SM, Matt Masterson (Colton Wight) 70:00.

COEUR d’ALENE — The Royals fell to The Oaks 25-17, 25-23, 25-19 in Mountain Christian League play at Holy Family Catholic School.

Kaitly Stegman had 11 assists, seven digs and Ilysa Emerson fininshed with five kills for North Idaho Christian (4-8, 2-3 MCL), which faces Kootenai Thunder on Thursday in Cocolalla.
