Cinthia 'Cindi' Joan Drapeau, 54

| October 5, 2015 7:06 AM

Cinthia “Cindi” Joan Drapeau, 54, of Cheney, Wash., died from cardiac arrest Sept. 13, 2015, in Spokane, Wash.

She was born April 12, 1961, in Nampa, Idaho, to Delbert G. and Donna L. (Clayton) Drapeau.

Cindi lived in Nampa and attended grade school before the family moved to North Idaho. She attended Lakes Junior High and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1979.

She grew up in Coeur d’Alene and Dalton Gardens and was active with horse and swine 4-H clubs and loved her livestock, including baby goats, ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, birds and anything else with fur or feathers. It was always a surprise which creature she would bring home next and her family usually ended up helping care for them.

Cindi attended classes at North Idaho College and married her high school sweetheart, Kevin Agte. They lived in Wyoming and southern Idaho before returning to North Idaho. The couple later divorced.

She worked at the family bakery in Sandpoint and at Goodwill Industries in Coeur d’Alene before moving to Cheney in the mid-1990s. Cindi studied art and gardening and was a gifted artist. She had worked for Skils’kin as a groundskeeper at Fairchild Air Force Base for several years before retiring due to declining health.

Cindi loved the outdoors and was a special friend to nature and rarely had a pair of shoes on as she enjoyed going barefoot. She showed kindness toward any of God’s creatures, including spiders and insects. She had beautiful, piercing blue eyes and an infectious laugh that usually meant she was up to mischief. Her gentle soul especially enjoyed the company of loved ones, animals and small children. She made many fond memories with those who had the pleasure of loving her and was affectionately known as Ninny or Sista to some.

Cindi was preceded in death by her father, Delbert, and her grandparents.

Survivors include her mother, Donna Drapeau of Bonners Ferry; siblings Tyrone Drapeau of Coeur d’Alene, Sherry Adkins of Hayden and Cody Drapeau of Bonners Ferry; partner Teresa Craver of Cheney; nephews Brack Adkins, Nathan Drapeau and Dustin Drapeau; nieces Brooke Law, Shayla Adkins, Thresha Kilkenny and birth-niece Lisa; and several great-nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by numerous relatives and friends and her pets at home.

Private family service will be held. Everyone is invited to share memories or condolences in the guest book online at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
