Cracker Barrel files building permit
Aha! Each week readers ask “What’s with Cracker Barrel? We need one!”
Well, you’re getting one. The company just filed a Commercial Permit Application to build a restaurant structure at 1675 Lee Court. This is between Appleway Way and I-90 with Ramsey Road to the west and south of the Crossroads-Winco complex.
Two other new eateries have also filed building permits for land nearby.
The Cracker Barrel people in Lebanon, Tenn., wouldn’t divulge any more information such as when it would open. Founded in 1969, the company has 637 restaurants in 42 states. Check www.crackerbarrel.com for menu-and-more info.
Freedom Burrito opens
“Authentic Baja, Mexico, style street tacos and burritos” are featured at Freedom Burrito, which is opening at 445 W. Cherry Lane (south of Texas Roadhouse off Highway 95 — the old Susie’s Kitchen place). It seats 36 inside and 16 outside.
Other specialties are carne asada fries (shoestring fries topped with skirt steak), grill-your-meat-to-order, boneless-skinless chicken, rice, whole and refried beans and scratch salsas. Beverages include beer and wine.
Owner Dennis Gross also has Freedom Burrito at 1602 E. Seltice Way in Post Falls (phone 777-0900). Hours at both places are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays. In Coeur d’Alene phone 930-4099.
4 Wheel Parts at Jacklin
Offering a wide variety of auto parts and accessories primary geared toward truck and Jeep owners, 4 Wheel Parts has opened in the former Jacklin Seed industrial site just off I-90 at 5300 W. Riverbend Ave., Post Falls.
The company occupies 10,000 square feet with its branded retail store and 75,000 square feet with its regional distribution center with sales on the Internet, in its catalog and in other stores.
The company will hire about 50 people here. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Starting in 1961, it has 71 stores in 17 states and Canada. Phone 618-4501. Check www.4wheelparts.com.
Grease Monkey is ‘grand’
Grease Monkey celebrated its grand opening this week at 3273 E. Seltice Way, Post Falls (west of Highway 41 and just east of the Quality Inn). Family owned since 2005, it’s the company’s fourth store in the Inland Northwest.
The company offers oil changes and more with “less hassle and more hustle” and accepts fleet customers. Watch for “20 percent off” coupons. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Phone 773-1340.

- This is more than a Tidbit, but Bank of America’s downtown branch at 401 Front St. is closing Oct. 27. We’ll have details later, but we’ve heard interesting rumors on what will happen to the historic building.
