Peggy Faust, 93
Margaret (Peggy) Faust, nee Schweisthal, born Nov. 21, 1921, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sept. 29, 2015. She is survived by 10 children, 29 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Peggy was born in Milwaukee, Wis., and raised in Evanston, Ill. She graduated from Mundelein College and married Ralph Faust in 1943. They raised their family in the Chicago area and Peggy taught school, served as a Cub Scouts den mother and worked as a secretary for the Archdiocese of Chicago. She was very involved in activities with the Catholic Church.
Peggy aspired to be a professional singer, and carried that passion through her family life. She and Ralph would sing harmonized duets on special occasions and all her children were encouraged to express themselves in song. She gave her children a loving and religious upbringing. She was an avid outdoors-person and the family embarked on many camping vacations over the years. Her cooking style was simple, but she fed a family of 12 faithfully.
Peggy and Ralph retired to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in the early 1980s and became active with the local community. They were members of the Northern Idaho Native Plant Society and co-wrote the popular “Wildflowers of the Inland Northwest,” published by the Museum of North Idaho shortly after Ralph’s death. Peggy was also active with Birthright and RCIA in Coeur d’Alene, and a devoted member of St. Pius X Parish.
All who knew her could feel her loving character.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft, Coeur d’Alene. Reception will immediately follow the service.
