REFUGEES: Lori's comment 'offensive'

| November 29, 2015 8:00 PM

Idaho Governor Otter issued a statement Monday asking President Obama to halt the refugee resettlement program, at least until there is a more serious vetting process in place to screen out terrorists.

“While I understand that immigration and refugee resettlement are authorized under federal law, I am duty-bound to do whatever I can to protect the people of Idaho from harm,” Otter wrote in a letter.

Nevertheless, Otter pledged “to use any legal means available to me to protect the citizens I serve.”

His wife, Lori Otter, thinks Otter’s move is political grandstanding. In a response to a comment on Facebook, Lori wrote that “(T)he situation is a federal one and no amount of grandstanding by a governor is going to change that. People need reassurance and a paper bag to breathe into,” Lori added. “They are concerned and scared.”

Sorry, but all one has to do is look at what’s happened by Islamics in Paris, Brussels and any number of OTHER places across the globe. Look at the number of innocent persons who have been killed by these Islamics and NOW you support just letting these same people to resettle in, not only our country, but in OUR state without being absolutely certain who they are and where they come from and what their agenda is?

Your comment re “needing a paper bag to breathe into” is totally offensive and you should immediately retract that statement! Yes, we ARE concerned...you should be too! I’ll remember your comments come election time.
