REFUGEES: Let's debate the issue

| November 25, 2015 8:00 PM

Dear Mr. Reeves,

I just read of your criticism of one of our elected representatives, Heather Scott, regarding her grave concern over the so-called refugees that the Obama administration is attempting to foist upon the people of Idaho.

If you have your finger on the pulse of the current refugee situation, you know very well that these Muslim refugees are infiltrated by terrorists. Yet you make the audacious assertion that your “vetting” process is thorough, and imply that there is no cause for concern. You thereby dismiss, with a wave of the palm of your hand, the profound concerns voiced by the people of Idaho and their representatives (right up to Governor Otter) that people like you are bringing a veritable Trojan Horse into our state. You make no mention of the Justice Department’s report released just days ago in which the FBI clearly admitted that they have no ability to adequately check on the background of these Syrians.

On a personal note, I would like to add that, as a retired Navy Intelligence officer who worked, inter alia, the Middle East/North Africa analysis desk in the 80s and 90s for the Sixth Fleet commander and for the Southern Region NATO commanders, you are playing right into the hands of those who wish to bring down Western Civilization. Based on your comments to the press, I assess that you are in way over your head regarding how bad these bad guys really are, and how intent they are on destroying our nation.

I enjoin you to refrain from such attacks on those who represent us and who speak plainly on our behalf. Please get this through your head now and always: we don’t want to open our normally hospitable doors to Muslim (or any) terrorists. (Where are all the Christian refugees?) We have a right to keep Idaho as it is, and not to be worried about Sharia being forced on us as part of the universal Caliphate. And if you really don’t believe that these “refugees” — not just the terrorists among them, but an inordinate number of Muslims in general — aren’t trying to force the Koran on us, then you, sir, are dangerously naïve.

I would be most happy to talk with you privately, and I even offer to debate you publicly on this matter. I could reserve the library auditorium at North Idaho College. Let me know when you can fly up to beautiful North Idaho. I am quite serious about this, and will make the arrangements on this end. I look forward to hearing from you.
