UI Fan Zone Damaged By Storm, Dismantled Early
MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Fan Zone, the temporary event facility on the University of Idaho campus, sustained significant damage during Tuesday’s wind storm. The structure will be taken down prior to the last Vandal home football game Nov. 28.
Most of the doors on the building, including four of the five large roll-up doors, were severely damaged. The entrance and exit doorways were also damaged. Small rips were also detected in the vinyl shell, which could be further damaged by inclement weather. Fencing was also damaged and the portable toilets blew over.
Dismantling of the structure is already underway. Pregame functions in the west parking lot will proceed as usual. No university-wide event is planned in place of the Fan Zone events on Nov. 28.
Vandal fans are encouraged to attend the last home game of the 2015 season, as the Vandals take on Texas State in a conference game in the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center beginning at 2 p.m. This is also the final game of the season.
The Fan Zone was built for the 2015 football season to provide a fun, family friendly pregame experience for students, alumni and community members. Each game showcased a different university college or department and/or community organization.
The University of Idaho and Vandal Athletics look forward to continuing the tradition of the Idaho Fan Zone in 2016.
