HALLOWEEN: Event a joy to behold
Our Candyland group was set up at Sixth and Sherman in a Trunk-or-Treat portion of the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association’s celebration of Halloween. Costumed kids were invited to visit the downtown merchants and our Trunk-or-Treat gathering on the grassy lawn to garner candy and treats.
This was the most polite, kind and friendly group of walking dead, witches and pirates you would ever see! When shy children did not say “Thank you” after receiving a treat, parents would gently remind them to say it. Our group was so impressed by their exemplary behavior that we couldn’t help but remark about it. Since we were STILL commenting about it two weeks later, we thought the whole community would want to know.
Parents: Great job! Not only were many of you also dressed up to share in the fun as family time, but you obviously love the job of raising wonderful children! Kudos!
Kids: Great job! Even though most of you had to bundle up, hiding parts of your wonderful costumes, you were never grouchy or cranky! Your polite and kind manners helped to show what terrific young people you are! Thank you!
Downtown merchants: Great job! Your generosity to the hundreds of area children and their families is inspiring! Thank you!
It was such a great experience that we hope to participate again next year!
