Stubborn lip lines

Are you tired of the stubborn lip lines that surround your mouth? If you’ve noticed aging in your peri-oral region, a procedure called dermabrasion may help. Not to be confused with microdermabrasion, dermabrasion is an aggressive treatment that does require both prep time and some down time. It is considered a refinishing of your skin that can help to diminish the appearance of fine lines.

Dermabrasion works by using a diamond wheel to remove the upper layers of skin. When these layers are removed, the body works to grow new skin in its place. This resurfacing results in smoother, fresher, less wrinkled skin. The results are dramatic.

This procedure can be done in the office under local anesthetic with sedative on an outpatient basis. Patients can expect minimal discomfort during the procedure. The procedure typically lasts 30 – 90 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated. Afterwards, patients can expect to experience redness, rawness, and mild pain for about a week. New skin growth typically occurs between five and eight days, and is usually light pink in color. This usually fades to a normal flesh tone over the course of the recovery period. Final results can be expected around three months post-procedure.
