After the storm: Schools closed as cleanup begins
It was a long night for emergency personnel, power line repair crews and many residents who spent hours without power.
School districts throughout the county, including Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland, Plummer-Worley and Kootenai - canceled classes for the day, although Post Falls schools are open.
Classes on North Idaho College's Coeur d'Alene campus are in session today, although the college's outreach centers in Kellogg, Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry are closed.
Many streets and roads remain littered with debris from fallen trees and branches, and Avista is reporting 10,474 customers in Kootenai County are still affected by power outages.
Kootenai County Sheriff's Office personnel and the county's office of emergency management are expected to release an overall assessment of damage a little later this morning.
