Growler Guys set to open in Cd'A

The grand opening is Friday and Saturday for The Growler Guys at 225 W. Appleway (next to Tuesday Morning and behind the under-construction Chipotle Mexican Grill building).

Owners Doug and Laura Nelson offer 48 taps of beer, cider, mead, hard root beer, nonalcoholic options of kombucha, cold-pressed coffee, craft soda, artisan pizza, wings, breadsticks and floats (beer and root beer). Customers can sample items and have them in-house or get them to go.

Crowlers (32-ounce beverages) can be sealed to go. Seating inside is for 40 adults with two sport TVs and Jenga blocks. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. With its headquarters in Bend, Ore., The company has nine outlets, including two in Spokane. Check www.thegrowlerguys.com.

All types of coffee and tea, including about 60 flavors of lattes and mochas and hand-blended granitas, are available at Great Escapes Espresso. The new drive-through and walk-up business opened this week at 1107 N. Fourth St.

Owner Billie Kortus, who also has had the Great Escapes Espresso at Hayden and Ramsey for 10 years, said the new place will have outdoor seating after winter. Winter hours are 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays, 6:30 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Phone 661-6596.

Although specific dates haven’t been determined, the Army-Navy Store at 1620 Government Way and the 50 Percent Off Card Shop at 101 Best Ave. are both closing their businesses with major sales.

Army-Navy owner Phil Motl said his is the last true Army-Navy store in Idaho. It began here in 1982, and he has owned it since 1989. It has blue-collar work boots and clothes and an interesting variety of American-made military surplus items. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Phone 667-6829.

The 50 Percent Off Card Shop (next to Hastings) hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Its two stores in Spokane also are closing.

Evidently the Patriot Pizza store in the Prairie Shopping Center has closed.

• Construction has started on Post Falls Brewing Co. at 112 N. Spokane St. in Post Falls. It should open early 2016. Check www.postfallsbrewing.com.

• The Wellness Bar plans to open Dec. 1 in the south end of Hayden Creek Plaza (Government Way at Prairie Avenue). This will be in the former spaces of Sage Boutique, which moved to the Plaza’s north building. Details here soon.

• Jeramko Nissan in Spokane is now Dave Smith Nissan. The company also has Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg and Dave Smith Frontier Sales in Coeur d’Alene. The company sells nine automobile brands and used vehicles.

• Watch for news on Numerica Credit Union coming to Post Falls, The China Inn and Real Deals on Home Decor opening on Fourth Street, and Prime Real Estate Group coming to Riverstone.

• Selling beer, wine, soft drinks, cigarettes and snacks, The Beverage Stop has opened its drive-through at 15268 Highway 41 in Rathdrum. Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Phone 659-0585.

• The recruiting and information offices for the Army, Navy and Marines have moved to the west side of Prairie Shopping Center (near Qdoba) while their former space is bring renovated. The Air Force office has moved to Spokane Valley.

• Evidently gluten-free items won’t be coming to the fast-food places. Items made without traditional flour are hard to make and expensive. You can find it in pizza, but it costs more. Many Mexican foods use corn tortillas.
