Robert Arney (Bobby), 54

| November 13, 2015 8:00 PM

Robert Arney (Bobby) passed on Nov. 1, 2015, after a short illness. He was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Pat and Jo Marie Arney on Sept. 1, 1961, and was the youngest of six children in the Arney family.

Bobby was raised in the Sanders Beach neighborhood of Coeur d’Alene and spent many days of his youth playing on Tubbs Hill and at Sanders Beach when it was still open to the public. He attended St. Thomas Elementary School, Coeur d’Alene Junior and Senior High Schools.

Bobby suffered most of his life from a debilitating disease but was always upbeat and was a well-known and loved figure in downtown Coeur d’Alene. He had a big heart and was always the first person to offer a helping hand to his family, friends, co-workers, neighbors and the less fortunate. Bobby was a hard worker and spent his life in his landscaping and snow removal business in addition to janitorial work.

Bobby was a longtime Eagles member, an avid Seahawks, Mariners and Sonics fan and his favorite food was a “Huddy’s” burger at Hudson’s Hamburgers, which he frequented a couple times a week. He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends, co-workers and neighbors. Bobby was also a devout Catholic and brought many together in prayer throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Jo Marie, in 2009 and his beloved brother-in-law, Robert Gage, earlier this year.

He is survived by his father, Pat Arney; his sisters, Susan Gage, Sally Arney, Betsy Chamberlain (Dennis) and Cathy Jones; and his brother, John Arney (Amphai); along with many nephews and nieces; and of course his two parakeets, Prince and Princess.

Bobby’s services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015. His vigil service will begin at 10 a.m. followed by his memorial Mass at 11 a.m., both at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 625 E. Haycraft Ave., Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with his care.

The Arneys suggest memorials be made to St. Vincent de Paul, 201 E. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene.
