REGAN: Responds to Irgens charge
I was taken aback, but not surprised when Eden Irgens was quoted in a recent article as saying I had donated to a PAC which sent out a political mailer that “had complete lies in it.” Really, what lies? Please be specific. I reviewed the mailer and the source material before agreeing to donate and saw only facts and information that had been reported in this very paper.
Why would Ms. Irgens make a demonstrably false statement? Well, perhaps it was because the flyer featured a satirical political cartoon of a pile of taxpayer money going up in flames to represent the waste by ignite cda. What the article does not mention is that Eden Irgens is a co-founder of Range NW and Range NW is responsible for the widely criticized ignite cda advertising campaign. This isn’t the first time Mr. Irgens has had her hand in the cookie jar. Several years ago I called out Range NW for charging over $5,000 to print invitations and bid cards for a local school’s fundraiser. The School District had a student run vocational print shop that could have done the job for free. The chairman of the event was Ms. Irgens’ business partner, who assured us everything was proper and suggested that I should perform an atomically impossible act.
I operate under two basic rules: Tell the truth and meet a stranger with friendship and an open hand. After that treat them as they treat you, without violating the first rule.
In the interests of civility in the public square I call on Eden Irgens to back up her claim that the Responsible CDA mailer “had complete lies in it” and enumerate those “lies” as printed. If she is able to do so, I will issue a public apology. If she is unable to do so then I demand a public apology from Mr. Irgens.
