OPINION: Don't confuse Catholicism

| November 11, 2015 8:00 PM

David Clohessy got it wrong in his Guest Opinion in the Nov. 4 Coeur d’Alene Press when he claims that the “Burden falls on bishops in a bizarre local sex case.”

Mr. Clohessy makes the erroneous assumption the Church of the Immaculate Conception, of which Kevin Sloniker is a member, is a church in communion with the Universal Catholic Church. It is not. It is a breakaway church that does not follow the Second Vatican Council changes completed in 1965 by the Catholic Church.

Neither Idaho Bishop Peter Christensen nor Spokane Bishop Thomas Daly have any administrative control or responsibility for the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Post Falls.
