Dell Karl Anderson, 78

Dell Karl Anderson, 78, died Oct. 31, 2015, from complications after open heart surgery. Dell was born Feb. 24, 1937, to Torney and Emma (Evelyn) Anderson of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

After graduating from Post Falls High School, Dell joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif., before going to South Korea. Upon completion in the military, Dell moved back to North Idaho.

Dell married Viola (Sue) Whalen in 1961. They lived in Post Falls, Idaho, and had three children together. He took early retirement from Kaiser Aluminum, Trentwood. Following retirement, he and Sue traveled the United States for 18 years in their RV. Dell was an avid bicycle rider, putting more than 92,000 miles on his Cannondale Mountain Bike alone. His favorite place to ride was on the “Rails to Trails” paths across the country.

Dell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue, as well as their three children, John and Jerry Anderson, and Jill (Richard) Gardner; grandchildren Kayla, Shane and Kelli Gardner; sister Joyce Coy; along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be missed dearly.
