Harold Joseph Hennes, 98

Harold Joseph Hennes, 98, passed away Nov. 9, 2015, in Spokane, Wash. Born in 1917, in Richmond, Minn., to Lambert and Katherine Hennes. Harold “Hal” was a well loved man. He was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He remained active even in his later years, always wanting to learn. He was a passionate bowler, achieving a 300 game at 82 years old with 16 strikes in a row. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He started serving in the Navy when he was 17, advancing from deck force to radioman. He was a pre-World War II and a World War II Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas Hennes, Robert Hennes and David Hennes; grandchildren Gabriel, Vanessa, Miranda and Vania; great-grandchildren Ismail, Sareem and Jaleel of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was one of eight children, survived only by his brother, Sy, of Arizona.

Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara; and his second wife, Eula.

A service honoring the life of Harold will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Please visit Harold’s memorial and sign his online guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
