STATE 2A FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: 'Jacks blanked by Aberdeen
ABERDEEN — Hilario Carrillo ran for a pair of second-half touchdowns and finished with 145 yards rushing, and the Aberdeen Tigers defeated the St. Maries Lumberjacks 17-0 in the quarterfinals of the state 2A football playoffs on Saturday.
St. Maries finishes the season 8-2, the most wins for the program since 1995, when the Lumberjacks went 9-1.
Donaven Rottini had 52 yards on 11 carries for the Lumberjacks, who did not allow a pass completion on defense.
“It was a great team effort,” St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said. “It was a very physical game and the kids played their hearts out. I’m very proud of the season these kids had.”
Kiefer Gibson threw for 90 yards for St. Maries, but was intercepted three times.
Aberdeen will face Declo in the state semifinals on Friday at Holt Arena in Pocatello.
