PRESS: No to sensationalism
I have subscribed to the Coeur d’Alene Press for many years. In the last months I have noticed a trend to emphasize the sensational. In my opinion Tuesday, Nove. 3, paper was the worst.
The first headline featured the anti-Semitic ties of a man accused of child rape. The article at length published negative allegations against his church. The story was more a condemnation of the Post Falls church rather than the crime.
The headline at the bottom of the page was about a police sex case in CALIFORNIA. Anyone glancing at the page would assume it was here. Our community is working on building our police reputation and you have set the effort back.
It appears you are trying to build your circulation by imitating the “journalism” of the tabloids.
