TRUMP: Fatal to GOP hopes

| November 6, 2015 8:00 PM

Does the Republican Party really believe it can win the presidency of the United States with Donald Trump as its candidate? The man is crass, boisterous, infatuated with himself and has absolutely no decency when speaking of others. Four months of the campaign have been lost while this person spews his vile attacks on other Republican contenders. His latest statement, “My father was rich but he only gave me a little, one million dollars, to get me started.” Really poor Donald! Is he the best candidate the Republicans have to offer? They need to make a reality check; i.e., do they want someone that trumpets all of their agenda but will lose the race to the White House or will they settle for a contender who supports most of their agenda and has the possibility of winning the race?

Jeb Bush probably understands budgets and foreign policy better than the rest of the candidates; but, his last name is probably his biggest liability. Dr. Ben Carson has the intelligence and moral character necessary to be considered. He has a calm, quiet, personality, almost to a fault. He seems to be similar to Jimmy Carter, a good man, but will he be a forceful enough to coop with the stress of foreign policy? Marco Rubio has worked for what he has. He speaks thoughtfully and firmly, will not plunge us further in debt, understands foreign policy better than Trump and will work to resolve the border issue. He would bring a lot of minority voters to the party. Callie Fiorina has executive experience, is forceful and would get the attention of many of the women voters. I could vote for any of the four; but, not Trump.
