James Melvin Crain, 79

James Melvin Crain, 79, passed away peacefully in his sleep from natural causes on Oct. 24, 2015, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Melvin was born on May 27, 1936, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to James and Blanche Crain. He married Patricia Hise on Aug. 10, 1956, in Reno, Nev., and they had five children.

Melvin was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

He really enjoyed animals and worked on a dairy farm for many years. At home he raised cows, pigs, rabbits and chickens for food and fun. He cherished his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia Crain; one sister, Rebecca in Texas; four children: daughter Vicki and spouse in Montana, son Charles and spouse in California, daughter Barbara and spouse in Idaho, and daughter Tina and spouse, also in Idaho; he is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, three brothers, one son and one grandson.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3825 N. Fruitland Lane, Coeur d’Alene. There will be a gathering for friends and family (place and time to be announced following the service.)
