Idaho's Kim tied for 13th as weather hits NCAA golf

BRADENTON, Fla. - Inclement weather forced the suspension of play at the NCAA Women's Golf Championship at The Concession Golf Club.

Idaho's Leilanie Kim was tied for 13th at one-over with three holes to go in her opening 18 when play was halted. Three players who had finished were leading at two-under 70. However, almost half of the field had not completed the first round yet.

Kim was playing to her strengths, coach Lisa Johnson said.

"She was long off the tee," Johnson said. "She had at least two really good up-and-downs. She played great today."

Kim's round started with a bogey before she settled in for six successive pars before a birdie brought her back to even through eight holes. Following a rain delay, she bogeyed two of her next three holes to move to two-over. She followed three pars with a birdie at 15 to drop to one-over at the time play ended for the day.

Shock look to bounce

back today in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Coming off their worst loss in franchise history, the Spokane Shock (2-5) look to rebound today, taking on the first-year franchise Las Vegas Outlaws (3-4) at 2 p.m. PDT at the Thomas and Mack Center.

Coming off last Saturday's 83-28 thrashing by San Jose, the Shock shook up the roster a bit, bringing back veteran defensive lineman Kevin "Chain Saw" McCullough and landing receiver Samuel Charles.

McCullough rejoins the Shock for his fifth season as a member of the AFL after spending the last three seasons with the three-time defending ArenaBowl champion Arizona Rattlers. During his rookie season in the Arena Football League in 2010, McCullough spent time with the Oklahoma City Yard Dogs and the Shock. Prior to joining the AFL, McCullough played with Spokane in the af2 for two seasons (2008-09). McCullough was a part of the Shock's 2009 af2 championship team.

Through the first seven games of the season, Outlaws quarterback JJ Raterink has completed 57.2 percent of his passes for 1,526 yards, 29 touchdowns and only four interceptions while also adding 20 rush attempts for 50 yards and five scores. Raterink is in his sixth season in the AFL after playing for the Iowa Barnstormers and LA Kiss in 2014. In the Shock's matchup in 2014 against Raterink while he was with the KISS in a Week 8 blowout win for Spokane by a final of 70-21, the Shock held Raterink to 9-of-30 passing for 101 yards, 2 TDs, and 3 interceptions.
