SEYMOUR: What our schools need

| May 13, 2015 9:00 PM

I’m a grandmother and great-grandmother who cares deeply about the type of education my grandchildren receive. I’m also concerned about the environment my grandchildren are in when they are away from home. I watch the board meetings on TV, and have seen the hard decisions that will affect our students and community.

I really appreciate a board member like Terri Seymour because I know she cares about her children as much as I care about my grandchildren. Terri makes an effort to see to it that policies like dress code are followed. She has been an advocate to make sure parents have more notice for things happening in our schools such as “opt-in” permission slips in advance of classroom movies or controversial subject matter. She seeks to evenly apply our policies to make sure the community can review materials before they enter our children’s classrooms. I feel confident in our school board knowing that a mom like Terri is representing parents views in their decision-making. Please consider re-electing Terri Seymour for Zone 3 School Board on May 19.
