This is the first letter to the editor we have ever written.  But never have we felt more love or pride for our community than we feel at this time.  We could not let our gratitude go unspoken.

We are the grandparents of Dylon Moore, son of Sgt. Greg Moore who died in the line of duty.  The love and generosity displayed by the people of Coeur d’Alene and surrounding communities has been overwhelming. From Dylon’s soccer team and the Police Department, to folks we have never met, the outpouring of love and support has touched our lives in a way that will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to Chief White for everything he has done for our families and his leadership in this time of loss; to Detective Johann Schmitz, for being with our family for five full days and for being such a good friend to Greg; to Pastor Rodney Wright,  for his constant support, thoughtfulness, and kindness to our families; to our closest friends and colleagues for the phone calls, cards, food, and most importantly their prayers; to the total stranger who stops us to give a hug and kind word; to all who have contributed to the Greg Moore Memorial Fund; to our daughter, Jennifer, for her unfailing efforts to put Dylon's needs before her own; and finally to Lindy Moore, Greg’s remarkable wife, who has so graciously allowed us to share this most difficult journey with her and Gemma. We are simply humbled by your love and support.

God has richly blessed us to live in this community and we could not be more proud to call it home. Let’s not forget what we all felt on Saturday. Not just about Greg, but also about each other and the dedicated men and women who protect us each day.

Thank you, Coeur d’Alene.
