Cd'A symphony to showcase young artists

Winners of the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra's annual National Young Artists Competition will perform with the symphony this weekend in Coeur d'Alene.

In January, the competition attracted more than 100 young musicians from all over the country. They visited Whitworth University, where they played in front of a panel of judges, competing for the opportunity to perform with the Coeur d'Alene Symphony.

Seven winners will perform with the Symphony tonight at 7:30 and again Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Kroc Center, 1765 W. Golf Course Road.

The winning young artists are:

Mona Sangesland, University of Washington, Seattle; Nathan Kim, 14, Newberg, Ore.; Caitlin Cisler, Missoula; Thomas Cooper, Oberlin Conservatory, Ohio; Adrian Steele, 14, Seattle; Meagan Seubert, Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma; Keri Hui, University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Tickets : $27/adults, $21/65-plus, $16/youth and students with identification.

High school students actively participating in their school music programs may purchase tickets to the Symphony's regular season concerts for $10, by phone only.
