Lowen 'Butch' Reynolds, 74

| June 16, 2015 9:00 PM

Lowen "Butch" Roger Reynolds passed away Friday, May 29, 2015, at the age of 74.

Lowen, the son of Homer Reynolds and Nellie (Fricks) McCray, was born in Murphy, N.C., in 1940. He was raised in North Carolina until the age of 2, when he moved to northern Idaho with his father, mother, and older brother Arden. Attending school in Post Falls, Lowen graduated from Post Falls High School in 1957.

Lowen was employed with Jacklin Seed until 1963 when he was drafted into the Army where he served as an MP in Germany and later in the Reserves until he was honorably discharged. He then began a meat cutting apprenticeship and was employed in this trade with Safeway and Riba Bros. until 1977. His final profession was a sanitation engineer with Valley Garbage until his retirement.

In 1969 Lowen married Teri Shalz and they had two daughters, Becky and Amy. During the time of raising his family, Lowen not only worked a regular job but also toiled at home on his and his father's property, dabbling in cattle and farming acres of oats. It was quite common for him to be seen after work and on weekends baling hay, disking a field, or harvesting a crop. Diligent work was a hallmark of his life.

Lowen is survived by his daughters, Amy Mort and Becky Stockton, and their husbands; his siblings Arden, Nellie, Linda, and John; and his eight grandchildren: Hannah, Seth, Levi, Sarah, Lydea, Rylee, Emery, and Noble.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at Pleasant View Church, 19459 W. Riverview Dr., Post Falls, ID 83854. A potluck lunch will be held afterward. Please feel free to bring an item to share for the lunch.
