Silver Mountain Race Series

Located just a short day trip away in Kellogg, Silver Mountain is one of the best-kept secrets of the Inland Northwest - but not for long. The resort boasts a formidable water park, solid ski hills and enough home-style eateries to draw a steady stream of visitors to the once-boisterous mining town. But during summer months, the tourist crowd gives way to bikers of all skill levels and some fast-paced competition at the Silver Mountain Bike Park.

This year, in addition to the Silver Mountain Race Series, the mountain will also host the Premier downhill race series, Northwest Cup Aug. 21-23. Information: http://bit.ly/1GzmRdO

Coeur d'Alene Bike Company

Over the past three years, the seemingly unstoppable force of Christopher Caro and Alex Castagno has taken the local bike community by storm. Under their skilled management they earned Terra Sports the prestigious title of The Inlander's Best Bike Shop in North Idaho two years running - and for good reason.

Their knowledge of bikes and love for helping others enjoy the ride have earned them a reputation for having fun as much as for giving a fair deal. A rapidly growing fan base is testament that loving what you do may be the very best business model. Next month, Chris and Alex will open the doors to a brand new venture - Coeur d'Alene Bike Company.

No-Drop Rides

Grown organically from a love of beer, burgers and bikes - the No-Drop rides are open to all skill levels and are wildly popular among the biking crowd. The inclusive events culminate with a tasty burger-n-brew finish line at Slate Creek Brewery on Wednesday nights and a rotating destination of other local establishments after the Tuesday night ride. The free, community-oriented rides are the brainchild of Caro and Castagno and are well-attended by enthusiastic like-minded patrons.

The event's popularity has quickly gained the attention of locals and industry aficionados alike. Weekly attendance often swells to more than 50 riders and burgers are hosted by sponsors such as Shimano, Trail Maniacs, Cannondale and Silver Mountain among others.
