State AA Legion tourney: Lewis-Clark earns berth in title game

COEUR d'ALENE - It was another crazy day at the Idaho American Legion baseball AA state tournament at Thorco Field on Thursday.

Two out of the three games played resulted in walk-off hits.

The Boise Capitals and Nampa Chiefs won their loser-out games and the Lewis-Clark Twins beat the Meridian Rangers with a walk-off single. The Twins (31-22) are the remaining unbeaten team and will play the Chiefs (25-10) tonight at 7 p.m. and the Capitals (34-12) will play the Rangers (24-14) in a loser-out game today at 1 p.m. Win or lose tonight, Lewis-Clark is guaranteed a berth in Saturday's championship game.

Lewis-Clark Twins 3, Meridian Rangers 2: Dalton Stamper hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning for Lewis-Clark. Jaden Phillips went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Twins and Austen Jones struck out six and retired 13 straight in one stretch.

Boise Capitals 6, Boise Gems 4: Capitals centerfielder Brad Jekich hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning in a loser-out game. The Gems finished 26-18.
