LOCAL GOLF: Bomar captures Senior Oregon Open
PENDLETON, Ore. - Prairie Falls co-owner Billy Bomar birdied the first hole of a three-way playoff to capture the 20th Senior Oregon Open Invitational golf tournament Thursday at Wildhorse Resort and Casino.
Bomar defeated defending champion Todd Erwin of the Tacoma Golf Center and 2008 champion Rob Gibbons of Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla, Ore., to earn the $5,000 first place check.
Bomar, the 36-hole leader, shot 70-64-69-203, 13 under par on the 6,640-yard course. Erwin shot 65-70-68-203 and Gibbons shot 68-69-66-203.
Low amateur honors went to Bob Christensen of The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, who finished in sixth place. Christensen shot 64-72-72-208.
Mike DeLong (Coeur d'Alene Resort) tied for 12th, shooting 71-69-71-211. Tim Morton (StoneRidge) tied for 34th, shooting 71-73-74-218.
