Police: Man answering Craigslist ad shot seller, stole car

TWIN FALLS (AP) - A south-central Idaho man responding to a Craigslist ad offering a car for sale shot and killed one man and wounded another with an assault weapon before stealing the car, authorities said.

Twenty-year-old Jacob Lyn Marshall of Jackson was arrested Saturday evening hours after the shooting when he rammed a police car with the stolen 1991 Mitsubishi 3000 VR4, police said.

Jerry Burton Kimball, 22, who authorities say accompanied Marshall, was also arrested.

Kent Storrer, 53, of Twin Falls died in the shooting and 32-year-old Jasper Qualls, who was selling the car, was treated and released from a hospital, authorities said.

"It was a flat out cold-blooded murder and there was no reason for what they did," said Gary Storrer, Kent Storrer's father. "They just wanted to kill someone."

Marshall is facing a charge of first-degree murder and Kimball faces a charge of aiding and abetting first-degree murder.

"What we know is that they were there to buy a car," said Twin Falls County Sheriff Tom Carter. "The shooting transpired because of that car, when they left they took the car with them."

Police spotted the vehicle in Jerome and after a chase took Marshall into custody, Carter said.

Kimball, of Twin Falls, went to the police station Sunday to provide information about the shooting and was arrested, Carter said. Kimball told police that he knew Marshall planned to steal the car and possibly kill someone, according to court documents.

"We're confident that everybody involved is in custody," the sheriff said.

Marshall and Kimball are being held in the Twin Falls County Jail without bond. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7.
