Woman on bridge causes concern

COEUR d'ALENE - Police had to shut down traffic on the Seventh Street bridge over Interstate 90 Monday afternoon when it appeared a 50-year-old woman may have been attempting suicide.

But that was not the case according to Sgt. Christie Wood, with the Coeur d'Alene Police Department.

"She was intoxicated and lives nearby," Wood said, adding the woman has a caregiver who came to get her and take her home.

Police received several phone calls from motorists traveling on I-90 who were concerned about the woman's health.
