Attorney general investigating former boat maker
BOISE (AP) - The Idaho Attorney General's Office is investigating a former custom boat maker who moved to upstate New York to open a new business, leaving behind unfinished boats and multiple lawsuits.
Christopher Bohnenkamp launched a new endeavor - a tour company called Niagara Jet Adventures, in Niagara County, N.Y. - even as he faces lawsuits from disgruntled customers and companies trying to collect on unpaid bills, The Idaho Statesman newspaper in Boise reported. The newspaper said his businesses took more than $1 million from customers who ordered boats, but failed to deliver them.
The office initially declined to pursue an investigation, after Bohnenkamp's attorney, Mia Murphy, said the companies simply ran out of money. That changed as more complaints surfaced.
