RETIRED?: Help school kids grow

| July 26, 2015 9:00 PM

It is time to start thinking about getting ready to go to school.

“CHILDREN WHO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR READING… FACE THE PROSPECT OF FAILING IN SCHOOL… AND IN LIFE.”

If you are retired and are looking for a satisfying way to volunteer, RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) may be just the thing for you. RSVP has a tutoring and mentoring program for elementary school children in K-5 that helps kids succeed. You can make a difference in the life of a child struggling in school.

We have 31 schools that we work with. Last year there were 88 volunteers and we can always use more as they help read for as little as one hour a week. Some of the volunteers actually go to more than one school because of the demand for tutors.

To discuss becoming a tutor, contact Betty Bray-Baker, Area Agency on Aging, RSVP Tutoring & Mentoring Program, (208) 667-3179, Ext. 241 or bbbaker@aaani.org.
