NOISE: Put a lid on it, Cd'A
I am becoming more and more concerned about the excessive noise in downtown Coeur d’Alene at night. Do you know there is an existing noise ordinance in Coeur d’Alene? It’s 65 dbs from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and 50 dbs from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m.
Sit downtown at night and you will agree we are well over the accepted noise level. Don’t get me wrong, I love the atmosphere of our downtown. The lively feeling in the downtown cafes and cocktail lounges is fun. But there is that small percentage of vehicles that make a nightly habit of driving between the library parking lot and the McEuen parking lot along Sherman and Front Avenue with excessive chirping out, engine revving with the sole goal of making as much noise as possible that make the downtown experience irritating. Also, while most bands are inside, the entertainment at Crafted is outside and goes on well past the 10 p.m. 50 dbs level.
We need a strong police presence and we need to start giving warnings and then after a period of time, citations for excessive noise. Let’s take our downtown back before we lose it for good.
