Linda R. Jones, 68
Linda R. Jones, 68, passed away peacefully at her home in Coeur d'Alene on July, 22, 2015, after an extended illness.
Linda was born in St. Maries, Idaho, to Robert M. and Iris (Lockard) Baltz on May 19, 1947. She grew up in St. Maries, and graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1965. While in high school, Linda worked at St. Maries Drug Store at the soda fountain. After high school, she attended Kinman Business University in Spokane before going to work for the U.S. Forest Service in St. Maries.
In 1969 she married Dennis Funke and they later moved to Coeur d'Alene. Linda went to work for the Hayden Lake Country Club but took time off to raise her sons: Jeff and Dusty. Dennis and Linda later divorced.
Linda married Laren Jones of Coeur d'Alene on May 5, 2001.
Linda had an endless number of interests and loved life, and people; but her family always came first. She was an avid reader, she liked to knit and crochet, and she participated in Bible studies and church. Her love for the Lord was extraordinary and in her healthier years she loved to bake muffins for those who were having difficulties: She called it her "Muffin Ministry." It also brought her joy to be an organizer for her class reunions. She was extremely fond of her classmates, but her best friends were her husband, Laren and her sister, Cindy.
Linda is survived by her husband, Laren Jones of Coeur d'Alene; two sons Jeffrey (Julie) Funke of Billings, Mont., and Dustin (Jaime) Funke of Hayden; stepmother Bernadine Baltz of St. Maries; sister Cindy (Darrell) Johnson of Hayden; six grandchildren; one niece and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by both her parents and her stepfather, Woody Smith.
