BOISE (AP) - A 22-year-old man convicted by a jury of kidnapping and murder charges will be sentenced in September.
The Idaho Statesman reports the body of 46-year-old Jeffrey Dyer was found in Ontario, Oregon last year. Police say 22-year-old Raul E. Herrera and 22-year-old Angelo Cervantes killed Dyer over his failure to procure prescription drugs and because he showed disrespect.
Cervantes pleaded guilty to murder, kidnapping and assault in May and goes before a judge again on July 28.
Police affidavits say Cervantes said he was involved in the crime, but that Herrera was the one who beat Dyer with a collapsible baton.
An autopsy showed Dyer died of blunt force trauma.
Herrera was also convicted of robbery and will be sentenced Sept. 25.
