Sheriff's office identifies suspected drowning victim

| July 22, 2015 7:25 AM

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office released the name of the teen presumed drowned in Lake Coeur d'Alene.

Deputies who responded to the report of the possible drowning Tuesday evening learned that Reginald J. Nault, 16, of Athol, was a passenger on a 23-foot Cobalt boat when he either fell or jumped from the vessel while it was underway. Nault was on the boat with two friends, also teens.

Sheriff’s Marine and Dive Team members searched the area without success. Due to the depth of the water, approximately 130-feet, an underwater search wasn’t conducted at the time.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s SONAR Team was deployed onto Lake Coeur d’Alene this morning to resume search efforts.

In an effort to conduct a thorough, effective search, the sheriff's office is asking boaters on Lake Coeur d’Alene to steer clear of the SONAR boat and minimize the wake in the area.
