POST FALLS - A motorcycle driver suffered severe head injuries and was airlifted to Seattle Monday after an apparent head-on collision with another motorcyclist in Post Falls.

Aaron A. Cameron was airlifted to Seattle after being transported to Kootenai Health by ambulance. He was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center Monday night.

The other driver, Jeremy Jamin Rogers, was also transported to Kootenai Health. He was in fair condition on Monday night.

"Both males appeared to be in and out of consciousness during our contact with them," a Post Falls Police officer wrote in his report, adding that the men were riding dirt bikes.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet and both males had been consuming alcohol, according to the police report.

Police requested that Rogers be charged with aggravated DUI. He was also cited for driving with an expired license.

Police officers were dispatched to a noise complaint in the area of 13th and Frederick at 1:28 a.m. due to motorcycles racing up and down the street. Then, about two minutes later, a two-motorcycle injury crash was reported to 911 in the same vicinity. When officers arrived, the men, described by police as in their mid-30s, were lying in the street.

A witness told police that the motorcycles collided head-on in a dark area that was not illuminated by street lights. Neither motorcycle had a headlight.

Police said no skid marks were present to indicate either motorcycle tried to stop or avoid the pathway of the other.

Rogers declined twice to provide police a blood or breath sample at Kootenai Health, but police and an on-call county prosecutor obtained a search warrant to receive a blood draw from Rogers due to Cameron's life-threatening injuries.

An investigation continues.
