With Cape Horn Fire now 100 percent contained, personnel scaled back
BAYVIEW - As the Cape Horn Fire winds down, so too will the personnel on the incident.
The fire, which began July 5 and torched more than 1,300 acres, is now 100 percent contained. The Northern Rockies Type II Incident Management Team reported that today it will transition the Cape Horn Fire to the Arizona Central West Zone Type 3 Management Team. Though this transition will result in the demobilization of many resources, the community of Bayview will not be left short handed. The Type 3 team will consist of many of the same components as the current team and is more than able to handle the incident.
Bob Fry, incident commander of the Western Montana Incident Management Team, expressed the team's gratitude to the community of Bayview.
"I really appreciate the community and cooperators," Fry said. "Their continued engagement and cooperation were integral to the success of our mission."
The fire information phone number will continue to be 683-1024. It will be staffed from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The team encourages residents to practice due diligence during these dry conditions and to stay up to date on local fire restrictions.
