Business openings on the horizon

Watch for several new places that plan to open in the next few weeks.

The "soonest" on our list is probably the Earthly Beauty Bar, which actually is expanding into the first level of the building in which it already occupies the upper level at 117 S. Fourth St. Its new space formerly housed Marmalade clothing boutique, which moved to Sherman Avenue.

Owner Lacey Moen specializes in eyebrow and makeup artistry, Brazilians and many other waxing genres. Additional services include facials, quick makeup refresh for date night, bridal and bridesmaid makeup, camera-ready makeup and salon quality hair blowout services. Jennifer Correia is business coordinator.

The expanded area also is available for private events and public education classes. Phone 664-1888. Check www.earthlybeautybar.com and www.laceofface.com.

Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.

Enoteca to move

A more visible location with better parking will boost Enoteca for new owners John and Ann Eckhart.

The beer and wine shop in the next few weeks will move from Suite C at 112 E. Seltice Way to 702 N. Spokane St., Post Falls. The new location formerly housed a salon and laundromat.

Enoteca's bar (the Drinkery & Refuge) has 11 beers on tap, many wines and full bar. The retail area has hard-to-find beers, wines, spirits and tastings. Enoteca is open at 11 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 3-8 p.m. Sundays. Phone 457-9885. Check www.corkjoy.com.

New Sherman apartments

A three-story, 12-unit apartment building will be constructed where a house will be removed at 728 E. Sherman Ave.

The 8,392-square-foot building on two lots will have four two-bedroom apartments and eight one-bedroom places with four garages and eight covered parking spaces to the rear. Jolleen Severns of Architects West designed the building with balconies for each place.

Construction should start in October with completion next summer.

A new Great Escapes

A second location for Great Escapes Espresso is planned for 1113 N. Fourth St. in midtown.

Planning to open in August, Great Escapes Espresso II will have outdoor seating, a drive-through and morning deliveries. Owner Billie Kortus has had Great Escapes at Hayden Avenue and Ramsey Road for 10 years.

Hours at both places are/will be 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Phone 691-3170.

Now for the Tidbits

- After 25 years of ownership, Bill and Cecilia Peterson are retiring from Peterson's Family Foods at 1211 Sherman Ave. Watch for news on new owners at the end of the month.

- And watch for news on The River Fly Shop in Kingston, Gaiwan Tea House and Pinot's Palette on Fourth Street and The Post Box/UPS Store on Government Way.

- Last week I was wrapping up the Tubbs Hill Foundation table on Parks Day with lots of cumbersome stuff to carry to my vehicle.

Suddenly a junior high-age boy I didn't know said, "Can I help you?" I was very grateful. Thanks, Nate. And thanks to the lady who gave me water and a protein bar.

- I play pickleball with as many as 30-plus people on the Cherry Hill/15th Street courts. Two of the nice ladies are Hell N. and Letha-L. I may not have their names right.

- A real headline: "Man is fatally slain."

- Ninety-nine percent of all lawyers give the rest a bad name.

- Many readers say Riverstone needs a grocery store. Most suggest Trader Joe's.
