NAMPA (AP) - Star's police chief has been injured in a crash after being struck from behind by another driver.

KTVB-TV reported Ada County Deputy and Star Chief of Police Sgt. John Laraway was approaching a stop sign Thursday when he was struck from behind as he was slowing down.

The other driver was 46-year-old Wesley Watts of Nampa.

Police said the impact caused Watts' vehicle to go off the road, over a ditch and cross another road before resting in a field. Police said it appeared that Watts was going to be taken to the hospital by his wife.

Sgt. Laraway was transported to Saint Alphonsus in Boise. The Ada County Sheriff's Office says he appeared to have no life threatening injuries.
