ASA SOFTBALL: Xtreme wins, loses at 14U regionals

COEUR d'ALENE - The North Idaho Xtreme was sent into the losers bracket on Friday, after falling 5-3 to the Capital City Crush, after the Extreme shut out the Mining City Magic, 4-0, in the ASA Region 15 14-and-under class B regional fastpitch tournament at Ramsey Park.

The Xtreme will take on The Bat Company, which lost 5-4 on Friday to the Montana Eclipse, at 8:15 a.m. today at Ramsey Park.

Capital City will play at 10:15 a.m. today in the quarterfinals at Ramsey Park against the Lower Columbia Devastation, which defeated the Spokane Diamonds 8-7.

Winners bracket

North Idaho Xtreme 4, Mining City Magic 0: Halle Cane, Emma Gray and Amanda Curry both went 1 for 3 with one run scored in the win.

Capital City Crush 5, North Idaho Extreme 3: Trinity Moore and Ashlynn Allen each went 1 for 3 with one run scored in the win. Olivia Acker went 2 for 4 with two runs scored in the loss.

Lower Columbia Devastation 8, Spokane Diamond Butler 7: Taylor Dow went 1 for 4 with three RBIs for the Devastation. Morgan Erickson went 2 for 3 for the Diamond.

Idaho Diamond Bandits (Boise) 13, Voodoo Dollz (Portland) 0, 4 inn.: Harper Platt went 2 for 2 with three RBIs for the Diamond Bandits.

Montana Eclipse (Helena, Mont.) 7, Spokane Crash 2001 1: Nicole Price went 2 for 3 with two runs scored for the Eclipse.

Montana Eclipse (Helena, Mont.) 5, The Bat Company 4: For the Eclipse, April Davis went 2 for 4, and McKenna Schmoke went 3 for 3 with two doubles.

For the Bat Company, Bella Valdes and Danielle Nidel each went 1 for 3 with one run scored.

Xtreme second in pool at elite tourney

IRVINE, Calif. - The North Idaho Xtreme 18-and-under select fastpitch team split its final two pool play games on Friday, and finished 4-1-1 in pool play at the Champions Cup, a 96-team, invitation-only tournament.

Breana Burke pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts as the Xtreme beat the Destroyers from southern California 16-0 in five innings. Kylie Smith went 2 for 4 with four RBIs, Burke was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Jadyn Behm 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and Martha Tooley drove in three runs. All but Tooley (Eagle High) are from Coeur d'Alene High.

The Xtreme lost 8-7 to Power Surge of San Diego in its final pool play game. Tooley was 2 for 3 with a two-run homer and three RBIs, Smith went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Haley Loffer (Lake City) was 2 for 3.

The Xtreme finished second in its six-team pool to the Sorcerers from southern California, a team they tied 1-1 in pool play. Power Surge, which handed Xtreme its only loss in pool play, lost three pool play games.

The Xtreme received a first-round bye into today's 96-team, single-elimination tourney. Two wins today will send the Xtreme into Sunday's play guaranteed of a top-16 finish.
