RESCUE: Praise Power of the Paw
A huge shout-out to local rescue Power of the Paw. This small organization, operating solely on donations and the efforts of its hard-working, dedicated volunteers, has rescued hundreds of animals over the past few years and hasn’t received much recognition from the local news media.
For example, POTP took in the eight puppies abandoned in Corbin Park spent hundreds of dollars treating them for ringworm and various other ailments, got them healthy and found them loving homes. They also now have custody of the two puppies thrown out of a car in a pillowcase. The one puppy’s broken leg cannot be surgically repaired and he will have to have his leg amputated. Once these puppies are healthy, POTP will also find them loving homes.
These are just two examples of how POTP always steps up to the plate to help the homeless animals in our community. More than $15,000 has been spent already on vet bills this year. These local grassroots organizations like Power of the Paw and Second Chance Pet Rescue deserve our support — whether by volunteering or donating, fostering, adopting or helping these animals find homes. Check out their websites and find your next loving companion. You CAN make a difference!
